Am I my Neighour’s keeper?

Our KILN reflection this week is an article written by Dr William Wan (friend in KILN & General Secretary – Singapore Kindness Movement) published in Singapore’s Strait Times this week.

Dr Wan writes a compelling piece about the need to show love and compassion to our neighbours. Being our “neighbours keeper” means showing empathy and care towards the elderly in our community.

Mathew 22:39 ESV also steers us towards these virtues and the importance of “love your neighbours, as yourself”. A timely reminder as we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

As lawyers, we have an ability to be a mouthpiece in the public square representing different sections of our community including the elderly. Being true to our commitment to justice, should be guided by Christian principles of loving and caring for people.

We hope that this article will inspire you to ‘see’ those you don’t ordinarily see, especially the elderly, who may be facing a festive season alone due to COVID restrictions.
